LASERC Calls for Stronger Energy Sector Collaboration

The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Ibilola Kasunmu, has paid a familiarisation visit to the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) to strengthen institutional cooperation in the energy sector.

Eko Hot News reports that the visit focused on enhancing teamwork, unity, and collaboration between the Ministry and LASERC in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration.

Engr. Kasunmu described both institutions as “one family,” stressing the importance of continuous synergy in achieving effective regulation and sustainable energy development across Lagos State.

She noted that strong collaboration between regulatory bodies and the Ministry is essential for building a stable and efficient electricity market that supports economic growth.

The Permanent Secretary commended the leadership and staff of LASERC for their professionalism, dedication, and contributions to the transformation of the state’s energy sector.

She assured the Commission of her full support and commitment to working closely with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of energy policies and regulatory frameworks.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of LASERC, Mrs. Temitope George, welcomed the Permanent Secretary and provided an overview of the Commission’s operations and ongoing initiatives.

She reaffirmed LASERC’s vision of becoming a leading electricity regulator focused on sustainable energy delivery and improved quality of life for residents of Lagos State.

Mrs. George highlighted the Commission’s commitment to smart regulation, consumer protection, and the development of a reliable electricity market.

She noted that LASERC continues to work towards ensuring efficient oversight of electricity services in line with global best practices.

The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships and reinforce shared goals between the Ministry and the regulatory body.
