The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has launched a new Yoruba educational board game to improve language learning and cultural awareness among primary school pupils.

Eko Hot News reports that the initiative, developed with SIKIRABU Africa Ltd, is part of efforts to promote indigenous language preservation through interactive and creative teaching methods.

The programme is aimed at strengthening pupils’ interest in Yoruba language while supporting cultural identity and educational development across public schools.

LASUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, described the initiative as a meaningful step toward improving language proficiency among young learners.

He stressed that preserving indigenous language is essential for maintaining cultural heritage and identity in society.

Dr. Shittu urged pupils to use the board game responsibly and avoid distractions from academic responsibilities.

He emphasized the need for balance between learning activities and recreation to support overall development.

The Board also called on parents to encourage their children to participate in the initiative as part of home learning activities.

Officials said the project reflects LASUBEB’s commitment to innovative and culturally relevant education across Lagos State.
