The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has carried out a comprehensive clean-up and waste evacuation exercise around the NNS Beecroft axis in Apapa to improve environmental cleanliness and public sanitation in the area.
Eko Hot News reports that the exercise was part of preparations ahead of the institution’s anniversary celebration and aimed at enhancing environmental standards within the corridor.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the operation reflects the agency’s ongoing commitment to maintaining cleaner public spaces across Lagos State.
He explained that the clean-up was executed by LAWMA’s street sweeping and sanitation teams, focusing on waste clearance, road median restoration, and general environmental improvement.

According to him, the intervention targeted accumulated waste and environmental blackspots to improve hygiene, aesthetics, and overall safety for residents and commuters in the Apapa axis.
Dr. Gbadegesin noted that LAWMA consistently supports public institutions, military formations, markets, and key facilities with targeted sanitation services to promote healthier living environments.
He added that the agency remains committed to strengthening environmental sustainability through continuous waste management operations across strategic locations in the state.
The LAWMA boss reaffirmed that collaborative efforts with institutions and organisations remain essential to achieving long-term environmental cleanliness and public health improvement.

He stressed that regular sanitation interventions help prevent waste accumulation and support a cleaner, more livable urban environment for all residents.
LAWMA also reiterated its commitment to sustained clean-up operations across major corridors and high-traffic areas within Lagos State.
Officials said such exercises will continue as part of broader efforts to maintain environmental order and improve the overall appearance of public spaces.

Residents and stakeholders in Apapa were encouraged to support waste management initiatives by adhering to proper disposal practices and environmental guidelines.
The agency emphasized that maintaining a clean environment requires shared responsibility between government, institutions, and the public.
LAWMA assured that it will continue to intensify sanitation efforts across Lagos in line with its mandate to ensure a healthier and more sustainable city.
