The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced N7,882,822.00 as the final fare for intending pilgrims from the state seeking to perform the 2027 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Eko Hot News reports that the Board Secretary, Mr AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, disclosed the fare on Thursday while featuring on The Conversation, a live programme on Lagos Television (LTV).

Ajomagberin attributed the reduction in the 2027 Hajj fare, compared to the previous year, to the efforts of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf.

He commended the NAHCON chairman for prioritising measures to reduce the financial burden of Hajj on Nigerian pilgrims while improving the overall organisation of the pilgrimage.

“The credit for this reduction goes to the NAHCON Chairman, who since assuming office has pledged to work towards reducing the Hajj fare and making the exercise seamless for Nigerian pilgrims,” Ajomagberin said.

The Board Secretary also appeared on live programmes on Radio Lagos and Eko FM on Thursday, where he urged all intending pilgrims to ensure that they pay the approved Hajj fare on or before September 26, 2026.

He explained that the deadline, set by NAHCON, would enable the Board to process and secure the necessary travel documents within the timeframe stipulated by the Saudi Arabian authorities.

Ajomagberin reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to the welfare and comfort of pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

According to him, the state government will continue to provide standard accommodation located close to the Haram, regular daily meals featuring local delicacies, comfortable transportation within Saudi Arabia, and organised Ziyarah tours to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.

He added that the government would also provide adequate medical services and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), while supporting the slaughtering of Hadayah rams and providing other essential services to pilgrims.

The Board therefore urged prospective pilgrims to take advantage of the announced fare and meet the September 26 payment deadline to facilitate proper planning and documentation ahead of the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
