The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has announced plans to host a one-day training workshop aimed at strengthening sustainable practices in the operation and maintenance of pollution abatement plants across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026, and will take place at ASSBIFI Events & Suite, CMD, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. The initiative is designed to build capacity among industry stakeholders and promote environmentally responsible operations.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, said the training is part of the agency’s commitment to improving environmental management in Lagos State. He explained that the programme will equip participants with the technical knowledge needed to operate and maintain pollution control systems effectively.
Ajayi noted that the workshop will focus on enhancing efficiency, safety, and sustainability in plant operations. He added that participants will gain practical skills that support improved performance and long-term environmental compliance.
He further stated that the initiative aligns with regulatory requirements guiding effluent and emissions discharge. According to him, proper adherence to these standards will contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
The LASEPA boss also highlighted that the training will encourage industries to adopt best practices in environmental protection. He stressed that consistent learning and application of modern techniques are key to achieving sustainable industrial growth.

Participants expected at the workshop include pollution abatement plant operators, maintenance officers, quality assurance personnel, environmental consultants, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) officers. Facility managers and relevant government officials are also invited to attend.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Taiwo Olumuyiwa, urged stakeholders to take full advantage of the opportunity. He emphasized that active participation will support improved operational standards across industries.
