The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Sanwo-Olu Mini Stadium, an 8-aside AstroTurf football pitch located at Sura under bridge, Lagos Island.
Eko Hot News reports that the facility was delivered through a partnership between the Lagos State Government and leading tech company, TECNO, marking a significant step toward revitalizing grassroots football and community sports infrastructure.
The collaboration reflects a shared vision to transform underutilized urban spaces into modern training centres that support talent discovery and youth empowerment within local communities.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, commended TECNO for its corporate social responsibility initiative, describing the project as a strong contribution to sports and community development.

Fatodu noted that access to quality infrastructure is critical to nurturing talents capable of competing at national and international levels, adding that the state and host community would jointly ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
He also applauded Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for supporting the construction of eight mini stadia across Lagos State, aimed at expanding access to sporting facilities at the grassroots.
The Sports Commission boss encouraged private sector participation in developing multi-sports facilities, stressing that Lagos athletes have diverse interests beyond football and deserve well-equipped environments.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, described the mini stadium as a positive platform to engage youths constructively and steer them away from negative influences.
He said the initiative reflects the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to empowering young people through sports and collaboration with corporate partners.
Ogunlende emphasised that government alone cannot drive youth development, noting that partnerships like the TECNO collaboration remain vital to positioning Lagos youths for global competitiveness.
