Lagos Commissioner Hails OEQA Retirees, Reaffirms Commitment to Education Quality

The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, has praised retired officers of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), describing them as one of the most valuable human assets of the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the Commissioner made the remarks at the OEQA Retirees’ Send-Off and End-of-the-Year Get-Together held on Wednesday at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

Alli-Balogun noted that the growth and effectiveness of OEQA are a direct result of the dedication, discipline, and professional input of retired officers over the years.

He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening education quality assurance through clear policies, continuous capacity building, and institutional reforms.

The Commissioner stressed that sustaining high educational standards remains a priority under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He added that the experience and guidance of retired officers would continue to shape a resilient and future-ready education system in Lagos State.

Encouraging continued engagement, Alli-Balogun urged retirees to remain available as mentors and advisors to the Ministry and OEQA.

“Though you are retired, you are not tired. Your experience remains valuable, and my office is open to your contributions,” he said.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, congratulated the retirees and charged serving officers to emulate their integrity and professionalism.

She described OEQA evaluators as “police officers of education,” stressing the importance of fairness and accountability in quality assurance duties.

Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite further urged serving officers to uphold civil service values and discharge their responsibilities with diligence.

The Director-General of OEQA, Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, described his leadership as a homecoming, recalling his journey from staff member to head of the agency.
