Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented ₦3.1 billion in compensation to 331 property owners whose land and buildings were acquired for major infrastructure projects across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the compensation covers verified property owners in Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Igbogbo and Ogba, reaffirming the Lagos State Government’s commitment to fairness, transparency and responsible infrastructure development.
The payment is part of the state’s efforts to ensure that residents affected by public projects receive appropriate compensation in line with established legal procedures.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said infrastructure development remains essential to meeting the needs of Lagos’ growing population, but stressed that affected residents must also be treated fairly throughout the process.
He explained that every compensation claim underwent thorough verification to ensure that payments were made only to the rightful beneficiaries.
According to the Governor, the verification process reflected the administration’s commitment to accountability and due process in the acquisition of land for public use.
Sanwo-Olu noted that every acquired property represents more than a physical structure, describing each one as a home, business or source of livelihood for individuals and families.
