Lagos State Education District III, in partnership with TechFam, has successfully hosted the 2026 Robotics Demonstration Competition to promote STEM education among female students.
Eko Hot News reports that the event took place at the National Stadium Surulere and attracted participants from various schools across the district. It was held under the theme “Science Leading the Path to Growth and Development.”
The competition focused on encouraging young girls to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It also aimed to build confidence and inspire participants to compete on global platforms.
TechFam, founded by Kelechi C Iwuamadi, continues to champion digital empowerment for girls across Africa. The initiative supports students in developing innovative solutions through robotics and other technology-driven activities.

Speaking at the event, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of Education District III, Olawale Olusegun Osinaike, praised TechFam for its commitment to empowering the girl child through technology. He noted the growing achievements of female students in both local and international competitions.
Osinaike highlighted recent participation by students from the district in global events, including competitions in Turkey. He said such exposure reflects the increasing capacity and confidence of girls in technology-related fields.

He also pointed to initiatives like the One-Day Governor programme as evidence of rising female leadership in Lagos schools. According to him, these achievements show the impact of sustained investment in education and youth development.
The Tutor-General commended the Lagos State Government for supporting partnerships that promote innovation. He noted that such collaborations align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in advancing education and technology.

In her remarks, Iwuamadi reaffirmed TechFam’s commitment to raising a new generation of skilled and creative girls. She explained that the programme aligns with the vision of the World Robot Olympiad, which encourages young minds to develop solutions to real-world challenges.
She also highlighted the inclusive nature of the initiative, noting that students with special needs have excelled in previous editions. This, she said, demonstrates that technology education can be accessible to all.

The two-hour competition featured five schools across junior and senior categories. At the end of the exercise, Dolphin Senior High School emerged as the overall winner, followed by Okesuna Junior Secondary School and Epe Junior Grammar School.
Participants were rewarded with laptops, mobile phones, and tablets, reinforcing the importance of innovation and excellence. The event reflects Education District III’s commitment to equipping students with skills for a technology-driven future.
