 Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu chaired the 4th Council Meeting of the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC) at Lagos House, Ikeja, alongside his co-chair, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede.

Eko Hot News reports that the meeting reviewed progress made on the LIFC initiative, a strategic collaboration between the Lagos State Government and EnterpriseNGR, with strong backing from private sector stakeholders.

The Lagos International Financial Centre is designed to position Lagos as a leading financial hub in Africa by creating an enabling environment for global investors, multinational corporations, and top-tier financial institutions.

The initiative focuses on delivering world-class infrastructure, streamlined business regulations, and seamless access to Africa’s largest consumer and investment market.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the LIFC journey began in 2023 and has recorded significant milestones through sustained collaboration between government and private sector partners.

He stated that strategic engagements are ongoing and that tangible outcomes of the initiative will soon become evident, delivering long-term benefits for Lagos residents and investment partners.

According to the Governor, the LIFC is expected to deepen domestic capital markets and expand access to long-term financing for businesses and infrastructure development.

He added that the initiative would also play a critical role in attracting foreign direct investment, strengthening investor confidence, and promoting economic diversification in Lagos State.

The council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining global best practices while aligning with Lagos’ development agenda and Nigeria’s broader economic goals.

Stakeholders at the meeting emphasised the importance of policy consistency, regulatory efficiency, and private sector participation in achieving the LIFC’s objectives.

The Lagos State Government reiterated that the LIFC remains central to its vision of positioning Lagos as Africa’s preferred destination for finance, innovation, and enterprise.
