Sanwo-Olu Joins Lagos Monthly Sanitation Exercise

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu participated in the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Surulere, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

Eko Hot News reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu was joined by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Managing Director of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, and other members of the Lagos State Executive Council during the exercise.

The sanitation exercise formed part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and encourage residents to adopt proper waste management practices across communities.

Governor Sanwo-Olu and members of the state executive monitored sanitation activities within Surulere, engaging with officials responsible for maintaining environmental standards and ensuring compliance with sanitation guidelines.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, reiterated the importance of environmental responsibility, urging residents to support government initiatives by keeping their surroundings clean at all times.

Also present at the exercise, LAWMA Managing Director, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, highlighted the agency’s continued commitment to improving waste collection, disposal, and recycling across Lagos State.

He noted that proper waste management remains essential to achieving a cleaner city and improving public health through sustainable environmental practices.

The monthly sanitation exercise also provided an opportunity for government officials to assess environmental conditions in the area and identify locations requiring additional intervention.

Residents were encouraged to dispose of waste responsibly, avoid indiscriminate dumping, and cooperate with environmental officials to maintain cleaner neighbourhoods.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed that environmental sanitation remains a key component of the administration’s development agenda, with continuous investments in waste management infrastructure and public awareness campaigns.
