Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has attended the Lagos State Tax Reform Summit held at the Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s revenue framework and promote sustainable economic growth.
Eko Hot News reports that the summit was organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue in collaboration with the State Treasury Office, bringing together key stakeholders in public finance, taxation, and economic management.
The summit focused on reviewing existing tax policies, identifying gaps in revenue administration, and exploring innovative strategies to enhance internally generated revenue in Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing participants, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a transparent, efficient, and fair tax system that supports development while reducing the burden on residents and businesses.

He noted that effective tax reforms remain critical to sustaining infrastructure development, social services, and economic competitiveness in Africa’s largest subnational economy.
The Governor emphasised the need for collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and taxpayers to ensure compliance and trust in the tax system.
He also stressed that technology-driven solutions and data integration would play a major role in improving revenue collection and accountability across the state.
The Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at simplifying tax processes, widening the tax net, and eliminating leakages within the revenue system.
Officials from the State Treasury Office noted that the summit provided a platform to align fiscal policies with Lagos State’s development agenda and long-term economic goals.
Participants at the event included government officials, tax administrators, financial experts, business leaders, and development partners, who engaged in panel discussions and policy sessions.
