The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency has called on workers in Lagos State to prioritise regular HIV testing and promote a stigma-free environment, noting that good health remains vital for productivity and economic stability.

Eko Hot News reports that the appeal was made during the 2026 International Workers’ Day held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where LSACA provided free HIV testing and counselling services to participants.

The Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Folakemi Animashaun, commended workers for their resilience and contribution to the growth of the state. She described them as a key driver of Lagos’ economic and social development.

Dr. Animashaun noted that the Workers’ Day theme highlighted the link between public health and socio-economic challenges. She explained that addressing HIV remains essential to improving living standards and workforce productivity.

During an inspection of LSACA’s testing stand, Dr. Animashaun revealed that over 600 workers benefited from the free HIV testing and counselling services provided at the event.
