The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) has entered into strategic discussions with the Office of the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture to strengthen collaboration aimed at promoting Lagos’ cultural heritage and boosting tourism development across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the engagement took place during a courtesy visit led by LASRAB Director-General, Mr. Amodu Razaak, to the office of the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe.
Both institutions focused on developing innovative approaches to use archival materials and historical documentation to create tourism products that reflect the authentic history of Lagos State.
Mr. Aregbe expressed strong interest in a partnership that would integrate archival resources into tourism, film, and creative industries to produce accurate and engaging narratives about Lagos heritage.
He emphasized that Lagos’ historical records hold significant value for storytelling in stage productions, movies, and cultural exhibitions that preserve the identity and legacy of the state.
According to him, using verified archival sources will help prevent distortion of Lagos history while strengthening cultural authenticity in creative works.
He added that such collaboration would position Lagos State as a leading global tourism destination by showcasing its rich historical and documentary assets.
LASRAB Director-General, Mr. Amodu Razaak, appreciated the warm reception and described the discussions as productive and forward-looking for cultural development in the state.
He highlighted ongoing partnerships already initiated by LASRAB and hinted at more strategic collaborations expected in the coming months to further preserve and promote Lagos’ historical records.
Amodu reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to safeguarding historical documentation while ensuring it contributes meaningfully to tourism growth and public engagement.
Both parties agreed on the need for continuous engagement between LASRAB and the tourism ministry to transform Lagos’ heritage assets into valuable cultural and economic resources.
