The Lagos State Government has officially commissioned Nautica Beach Resort in Lekki, describing the facility as a major boost to the state’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.
Eko Hot News reports that the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, led the commissioning ceremony where she praised the project as a significant private-sector investment in tourism.
According to the Commissioner, the opening of the resort represents more than the launch of a leisure destination. She said it reflects the possibilities that emerge when private enterprise aligns with government efforts to drive economic development.
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka noted that tourism has become a vital contributor to economic growth, extending beyond recreation to support employment, business opportunities, and investments across multiple sectors.
She explained that tourism strengthens industries such as hospitality, transportation, entertainment, arts, culture, and small businesses, creating broader economic benefits for communities.
The Commissioner commended the leadership, investors, and partners behind Nautica Beach Resort for their commitment to developing Lagos’ tourism potential and enhancing its coastal attractions.
She reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment that encourages responsible investments capable of improving visitor experiences and generating jobs.
According to her, the broader Nautica vision extends beyond the resort itself, offering an integrated destination that combines hospitality, marine recreation, entertainment, events, and lifestyle experiences.
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka stated that the project has the capacity to become a major tourism asset for Lagos State and Nigeria, contributing significantly to the economy while attracting local and international visitors.
Declaring the resort open, she expressed optimism that Nautica Beach Resort would create opportunities, stimulate tourism activities, and support the continued growth of the sector.
The Commissioner further described the development as evidence that Nigeria possesses the capacity to build world-class tourism destinations that can compete favourably on the global stage.
Speaking at the event, Founder and Chairman of Nautica Beach Resort, Dr. Adetoro Bank-Omotoye, described the project as the realization of a vision that many initially viewed as ambitious.
He explained that Nautica was conceived as part of a larger ecosystem designed to bring together tourism, hospitality, entertainment, investment, culture, business, and lifestyle experiences.
Dr. Bank-Omotoye noted that the resort demonstrates the power of vision, determination, and consistency in transforming ideas into reality.
According to him, the Nautica Ecosystem was created to provide a destination where people can relax, celebrate, connect, invest, and enjoy a unique experience within Lagos State.
He highlighted the gradual growth of the ecosystem and expressed confidence that it would contribute meaningfully to the state’s tourism landscape.
The founder also appreciated government institutions and development partners whose support helped bring the project to completion.
He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development and creating opportunities for economic expansion.
Dr. Bank-Omotoye added that when governments provide a supportive environment, private investors are better positioned to develop projects that deliver lasting benefits for society.
Industry stakeholders at the event described the resort as a valuable addition to Lagos’ tourism offerings and a positive signal for future investments in the sector.
With its blend of leisure, hospitality, and lifestyle experiences, Nautica Beach Resort is expected to attract visitors, support local businesses, and strengthen Lagos’ position as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.
