The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, has strengthened grassroots engagement by empowering over 300 constituents through her HC 2.0 Community Outreach initiative held at Isale Eko, Lagos Island.
Eko Hot News reports that the annual outreach programme brought together traders, artisans, women entrepreneurs, and residents from across the 10 wards of Lagos Island, with a focus on economic empowerment, tax education, and social support during the yuletide season.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Bada Ambrose explained that the initiative was designed to equip constituents with relevant knowledge and resources needed to navigate emerging tax reforms, reduce poverty, and improve overall economic well-being at the grassroots.
She noted that as Lagos prepares for 2026, tax reforms have become a critical topic for small business owners, prompting the engagement of seasoned tax experts to provide practical sessions on tax clarity, compliance, and trust, tailored to the realities of traders and artisans.
The Commissioner emphasised that women play a central role in driving household stability and community prosperity, stressing that empowering female-led enterprises aligns with the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to connecting government policies directly with the people.
In addition to capacity building, the outreach also featured the distribution of foodstuffs and stipends to over 300 beneficiaries, aimed at easing seasonal financial pressures and supporting vulnerable families during the festive period.
Mrs. Bada Ambrose described the gesture as part of responsive and compassionate leadership, noting that inclusive support, hunger reduction, and shared prosperity remain key priorities of the Lagos State Government.
Beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as timely, impactful, and reflective of genuine concern for grassroots economic growth and social welfare.
