The first batch of Lagos State pilgrims has proceeded to Makkah as part of ongoing activities for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
Eko Hot News reports that a total of 343 pilgrims departed Madinah for the holy city of Makkah after completing several days of spiritual engagement.
The pilgrims had spent four days in Madinah, where they participated in prayers and devotional activities at the Prophet’s Mosque.
Officials confirmed that the group moved to Makkah in high spirits as they continued their religious journey.
Meanwhile, the second and third batches of Lagos pilgrims, who arrived in Madinah on Sunday, have commenced Ziyarah visits.
The visits included several significant Islamic historical sites that hold deep spiritual and historical importance.
Among the locations visited were Masjid Quba, recognised as the first mosque built in Madinah.
Pilgrims also visited Mount Uhud, the site of the historic Battle of Uhud.
Other key sites included Masjid Qiblatain, where the direction of prayer was changed from Jerusalem to Makkah.
The group also visited Jannatul Baqi, the burial ground of many companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Sab’ah Masajid, known for their connection to the Battle of the Trench, was also part of the historical tour.
The visits were aimed at deepening the pilgrims’ understanding of Islamic history and spiritual heritage.
Officials noted that the programme helps participants reflect on the sacrifices of early Muslims.
The Lagos State pilgrims are continuing preparations for the major Hajj rites scheduled in Makkah.
Authorities described the movement of pilgrims as smooth, organised, and spiritually uplifting.
The Hajj delegation has continued to ensure proper coordination and welfare support for all participants.
Religious leaders accompanying the pilgrims encouraged them to remain focused on the spiritual purpose of the pilgrimage.
They also urged continued prayers for peace, unity, and development in Lagos State and Nigeria.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a well-organised and meaningful Hajj exercise for all pilgrims.
