The Lagos State Youth Ambassadors have engaged in a fireside chat with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, on education, leadership, and youth development.
Eko Hot News reports that the interactive session was held at the Ministry’s conference room and brought together young leaders from the IBILE Youth Academy and senior government officials.
The programme was led by the Director of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr. Julius Folasayo Olukosi.
Discussions at the session focused on education, leadership values, resilience, self-development, and personal identity.
Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for personal success and national development.
She encouraged the youths to remain focused on their academic pursuits and to use education as a tool for empowerment.

The Permanent Secretary urged participants to identify gaps in their communities and develop impactful initiatives.
She advised them to stand out positively in their environments and build strong personal development paths.
According to her, discipline, self-confidence, and integrity remain essential qualities for future leaders.
She also encouraged the youths to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to see setbacks as opportunities for growth.
Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite stated that the Ministry is open to partnering with the Youth Ambassadors on developmental projects.

The IBILE Youth Academy was highlighted as a platform designed to identify and nurture young talents across Lagos divisions.

Officials explained that the academy selects youths aged 15 to 24 and provides structured leadership development programmes.
It was noted that participants undergo training and evaluation processes across Lagos divisions including Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe.
The programme aims to promote leadership skills, discipline, and civic responsibility among young people.
Representatives from various departments within the Ministry also attended the session, reinforcing cross-sector collaboration.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to youth development, education quality, and leadership mentorship initiatives.
Officials said such engagements are essential in building responsible citizens and future leaders for the state’s continued growth.
