The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down several establishments across Lagos State over environmental violations.

Eko Hot News reports that the enforcement exercise covered areas including Oregun, Ikeja GRA, Agege Motor Road, Onipetesi, Meiran Road, Ajasa Command, Ejigbo Road, and Fola Agoro in Shomolu.

The operation targeted a wide range of facilities. These included warehouses, religious centres, poultry businesses, gas stations, manufacturing outfits, and hospitality establishments.

Among the affected organisations were Otuska Nigeria Nutraceutical Company, B.B. Market Place, Mountain of Fire Ministries, an Anglican Church, VoliaGas, Asian Limited, Pen-Shen Limited, Wise FM, Akanchawa Spot Bar, and Assemblies of God Church.

LASEPA stated that the establishments were found to be in violation of environmental regulations. The infractions cut across different sectors and operational activities.

Key issues identified during inspections included excessive noise levels. Air pollution and failure to comply with operational standards were also noted.

The agency explained that some facilities operated in residential areas without proper approvals. Others did not meet required environmental guidelines.

General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.

He stated that the enforcement followed a series of inspections and prior warnings. According to him, affected operators did not take the necessary corrective steps.

Ajayi highlighted that noise pollution remains a major concern. He noted that it affects public health, safety, and overall well-being.
