Operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority have carried out an enforcement operation in the Gbagada axis, targeting illegal trading and improper waste disposal activities.
Eko Hot News reports that the agency’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement team dislodged traders whose activities were linked to environmental nuisance and indiscriminate waste dumping in the area.
The operation forms part of LAWMA’s broader efforts to maintain environmental order and promote a cleaner, healthier Lagos.
Officials noted that illegal trading in unauthorised locations often contributes to poor sanitation and disrupts effective waste management systems.

The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health through consistent monitoring and enforcement across communities.
Residents and traders were advised to adhere strictly to environmental regulations and approved waste disposal practices.
LAWMA also encouraged the public to patronise assigned Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators for proper waste collection and management.
The authority stressed that compliance is essential in achieving sustainable sanitation standards across Lagos State.

Stakeholders highlighted that collective responsibility is key to maintaining a clean environment and improving overall quality of life.
The agency assured that enforcement activities would continue across different parts of the State to ensure adherence to sanitation laws.
Officials added that ongoing awareness campaigns will complement enforcement efforts to drive behavioural change among residents.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to building a cleaner and more organised city through proactive environmental management initiatives.
