The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has arrested three suspected hoodlums involved in harassing motorists across key areas in the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the activities of individuals commonly referred to as ‘omotaku’.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development via his official X account. He confirmed that the arrests were carried out in two separate locations.

According to Wahab, the suspects were apprehended at Palmgrove bus stop along Ikorodu Road and in the Oniru area on Lagos Island. These locations have been identified as hotspots for such activities.

He explained that the suspects targeted motorists with broken-down vehicles. They allegedly approached victims under the guise of assistance but ended up harassing them.

The arrests form part of a broader enforcement campaign by the Taskforce. Authorities have intensified patrols in areas where such incidents are frequently reported.

The Taskforce also intervened at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road during another incident. Suspected touts were reported to have engaged in activities that disrupted road users.

Wahab assured residents that enforcement operations will continue. He emphasized the importance of maintaining safety and order on Lagos roads.

He added that the government remains committed to protecting motorists from harassment. Efforts are being sustained to ensure a more secure and organized environment.

The initiative reflects the state’s broader goal of improving public safety. It also aims to restore confidence among road users and residents.

Motorists have been encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. Timely reporting will support authorities in responding effectively to incidents.
