The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has received the Federal Controller of Works, Engr. Olufemi Dare and his team were on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration for seamless project delivery across the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the meeting focused on improving coordination between the Federal Ministry of Works and the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation to ensure efficiency, safety, and minimal disruption to traffic during major infrastructure projects.

Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, described the engagement as timely, noting that Lagos’ population of over 30 million people and heavy daily vehicular movement require deliberate, well-coordinated transport and traffic management strategies.

Osiyemi stressed that Lagos faces unique urban mobility challenges and called for action-oriented and strategic engagements that would translate policy discussions into measurable outcomes in project execution and traffic safety.

He emphasised that effective collaboration between federal and state institutions remains critical to managing traffic flow, protecting road users, and delivering projects within agreed timelines.

Earlier, Engr. Dare underscored the importance of intentional synergy between both ministries, noting that overlapping responsibilities make collaboration unavoidable for successful project delivery in Lagos State.

He specifically referenced the ongoing Coastal Road project, identifying it as a major corridor with heavy traffic volumes that requires close coordination, traffic control, and shared operational planning.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Olawale Musa, assured the Federal Ministry of Works of increased deployment of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel along the Coastal Road corridor.

He also pledged the provision of additional road signs and security support to improve safety, traffic flow, and public compliance during construction activities.

Musa reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to sustained collaboration, stressing that joint planning and continuous communication are essential to reducing congestion and ensuring project success.

The meeting reaffirmed both parties’ resolve to work together in delivering safer roads, efficient traffic management, and improved transport infrastructure for Lagos residents.
