The Lagos State Government is intensifying efforts to position the state as a leading travel and cultural destination through strategic engagement with key tourism stakeholders.
Eko Hot News reports that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, held a high-level meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of AKWAABA Africa Travel Market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in destination marketing, tourism development, and leveraging AKWAABA’s globally recognised platforms to enhance Lagos’ visibility on the international stage.
In attendance were the Director, Monuments Management Department, Mr Ladejobi Ibrahim, alongside officers of the Tourism Promotion Unit, Mr Adejuwon Badejo and Mrs Opemipo Oluwa, reflecting the Ministry’s coordinated approach to tourism promotion.

Discussions centred on attracting international tourists, investors, and industry stakeholders through targeted campaigns and strategic partnerships that showcase Lagos’ cultural heritage, hospitality offerings, and economic potential.
AKWAABA Africa Travel Market remains one of Africa’s foremost tourism events, bringing together governments, tourism professionals, and private sector players to promote travel, hospitality, and cultural exchange across the continent.
Over the years, the platform has played a key role in projecting Lagos and other African destinations to global audiences, contributing to increased interest in African tourism markets.
