The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, through the Lagos State Agricultural Land Holdings Authority (ALHA), has commenced a statewide stakeholders’ engagement on agricultural land management and revalidation across farm formations in Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the exercise aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Lagos State Government, with a strong focus on food security, farmland expansion, and effective land use management across the state.

Speaking during the engagement, the General Manager of ALHA, Engr. (Mrs.) Samiat Ajoke Raji said the revalidation aims to update records of agricultural land and ensure that allocated farmlands are used strictly for agricultural production.

She explained that the initiative would address irregularities, evaluate land utilisation levels, and realign farmland usage with approved purposes in line with government policies.

Engr. Raji stressed the importance of accountability, noting that all allottees must comply with revenue obligations, including ground rent payments, to the Lagos State Government.

She added that perimeter fencing and any transfer of farmland between stakeholders must receive full authorisation from ALHA and be properly documented in line with established guidelines.

According to her, the exercise will also identify challenges faced by farmers on-site and provide sustainable solutions to enhance productivity and compliance.

The engagement was flagged off at the Erikorodo Poultry Estate in Ikorodu, which houses 103 allottees and supports large-scale poultry production, including broilers, layers, cockerels, and egg production.

The estate is equipped with modern facilities designed to support sustainable food security and boost agricultural output in Lagos State.
