The Federal Government has announced the opening of applications into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria, in line with the Renewed Hope education agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Eko Hot News reports that the announcement was made by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, who described the initiative as a major step toward expanding access to free, skills-driven, and practical education for Nigerian youths.
According to the Minister, the programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with relevant technical and vocational skills needed for employment, entrepreneurship, and national development.
Dr Alausa explained that strengthening technical education remains a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda, as it supports workforce development, innovation, and economic sustainability.

He noted that Federal Technical Colleges play a critical role in preparing students for modern industry demands, while reducing unemployment and dependence on white-collar jobs.
The Minister disclosed that applications will officially open on Monday, January 26, 2026, urging eligible candidates and parents to take advantage of the opportunity.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to removing barriers to education by promoting free and inclusive technical training across the country.
Dr Alausa added that the initiative aligns with ongoing reforms in the education sector aimed at repositioning skills acquisition as a pathway to prosperity and self-reliance.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as timely and strategic in addressing youth unemployment and bridging the skills gap in Nigeria.
The Federal Technical Colleges admissions exercise is expected to attract thousands of applicants nationwide, further strengthening the technical education ecosystem and supporting Nigeria’s long-term development goals.
