The Lagos State Government has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on traffic lawlessness with the apprehension of a bullion van driver for driving against traffic in Lagos.
Eko Hot News reports that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, ordered the arrest after the bullion van was caught violating a one-way traffic rule along the Chevron axis en route to Ajah.
The driver, identified as Mr Daniel Ikede, was intercepted for driving against the legally designated traffic flow, an offence prohibited under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
Upon questioning, the driver admitted to committing the offence, claiming he was trailing a police escort vehicle assigned to accompany the bullion van from First Bank, Chevron axis.
While the bullion van was successfully apprehended through prompt enforcement, members of the alleged police escort reportedly fled the scene, evading arrest.

Hon. Sola Giwa condemned the act, describing it as a reckless display of impunity and an abuse of perceived privilege that endangers public safety.
He stressed that no individual, vehicle, or institution is above the law, regardless of status, assignment, or the presence of security escorts.
The Special Adviser warned that driving against traffic remains one of the most dangerous traffic offences in Lagos, often leading to fatal accidents, property damage, and severe traffic disruptions.
He reaffirmed that the Sanwo-Olu administration remains resolute in enforcing traffic laws fairly and decisively to protect lives and maintain order on Lagos roads.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) also reminded motorists—private, commercial, corporate, and security-assisted—that compliance with traffic regulations is mandatory.
LASTMA cautioned that any violation of traffic laws will attract swift enforcement actions as the state continues efforts to ensure safety and seamless mobility across the metropolis.
