The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has honoured officers who retired from public service in 2025, celebrating their years of dedication and contributions to Lagos State.
Eko Hot News reports that the 2025 Retirement Ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Ministry’s Conference Room, where retiring officers were recognised for their meritorious service to the Ministry and the Lagos State Public Service.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, described the retirees as pillars whose professionalism, commitment, and integrity helped shape impactful programmes for women, children, families, and vulnerable groups across the state.

The Commissioner noted that the retirees played key roles in advancing social development initiatives and urged them to embrace retirement as a new phase of fulfilment, rest, and renewed purpose.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, congratulated the retirees for their disciplined and faithful service, noting that their efforts strengthened the Ministry’s operations and aligned with Lagos State’s development goals.
She also expressed appreciation to the families of the retirees, acknowledging their sacrifices and support throughout the years of public service.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Ashimi, a retired Principal of the WAPA Skills Acquisition Centre, Isheri, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for providing an enabling environment for growth and impactful service.
He thanked the Honourable Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, and staff for their leadership, mentorship, and support during his years in service.
Mr. Ashimi also commended his fellow retirees for their unity and teamwork, noting that their collective efforts contributed significantly to the success of WAPA’s programmes.
He described his civil service journey as fulfilling, highlighting opportunities to empower women, men, and youths with practical and life-enhancing skills.
The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages, as WAPA reaffirmed its commitment to recognising dedication, preserving institutional legacy, and honouring faithful service.
