Efforts to strengthen security infrastructure in Lagos State received a major boost on Monday as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent headquarters of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in Alausa, Ikeja.

Eko Hot News reports that the multi-storey office complex, located along Assfibi Road, Alausa, will serve as the operational headquarters of LSSTF, an agency established in 2007 to support security operations across the state.

The project is being fully funded by frontline businessman and philanthropist, Sir Adebukunola Adebutu Kessington, who donated the building to the state as part of his commitment to public safety and security.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that despite its strategic mandate, LSSTF had operated from rented facilities for 17 years, stressing that the absence of a permanent office limited the agency’s operational efficiency.

He said the new headquarters, expected to be completed by October 2026, would significantly enhance the agency’s capacity to deliver security support services and strengthen Lagos State’s overall security architecture.

The governor praised Sir Kessington’s philanthropic gesture, describing it as an act of patriotism that relieved the state government of financial and bureaucratic constraints that could have delayed the project.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the permanent office would enable LSSTF to discharge its statutory responsibilities with greater professionalism, integrity, and coordination among security agencies operating in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, LSSTF Executive Secretary, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, said the groundbreaking marked a major milestone in his vision to restructure and reposition the Fund for improved performance.

Ogunsan explained that upon assuming office, his priority was to secure a permanent headquarters befitting the agency’s mission, adding that Sir Kessington immediately embraced the vision and agreed to solely fund the project.

He described the donation as a powerful symbol of purposeful philanthropy, leadership, and trust, noting that the facility would boost institutional capacity and enhance collaboration with security partners.

Ogunsan disclosed that the building would be named after Sir Kessington in recognition of his exceptional contribution to public safety and security in Lagos State.

In his remarks, Sir Kessington described the donation as a “call to duty,” stressing that Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, requires collective responsibility to ensure peace, safety, and stability for residents and businesses.
