The Federal Government has announced plans to launch the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS), a new platform aimed at transforming education data management across Nigeria.

Eko Hot News reports that the initiative is designed to unify and digitise education data, providing a centralised system for schools, learners, teachers, and education infrastructure nationwide.

According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the platform will improve planning, budgeting, policy formulation, and monitoring across the education sector.

Officials said DNEMIS will address long-standing challenges associated with fragmented and inconsistent education data.

The ministry explained that the digital platform will provide government agencies with timely, reliable, and accessible information to support evidence-based decision-making.

By consolidating education records into a single system, policymakers will be better positioned to identify sector needs and allocate resources more effectively.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen coordination among federal, state, and local education authorities.

Officials noted that accurate and up-to-date data will enhance programme implementation and improve service delivery across schools nationwide.

As part of the project, the Federal Government will introduce a Public DNEMIS Portal that will make selected education data available to researchers, journalists, development partners, policymakers, and members of the public.

The ministry said the public portal will encourage greater transparency while supporting research and informed public discussions on education development.

The government believes improved access to reliable education statistics will help stakeholders develop practical solutions to challenges affecting the sector.

Officials added that the platform aligns with ongoing education reforms focused on improving governance, accountability, and institutional efficiency.

The digital system is expected to simplify data collection, reduce duplication, and improve the quality of information used for national education planning.

The ministry noted that reliable education data remains essential for monitoring enrolment, teacher distribution, school infrastructure, and learning outcomes.

Stakeholders also expect the platform to strengthen collaboration between government institutions and development partners working to improve education across Nigeria.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital technology to modernise public administration and enhance the delivery of quality education services.

Officials expressed confidence that DNEMIS will become a critical tool for driving sustainable reforms, supporting strategic investments, and improving educational outcomes for millions of learners across the country.

The launch of the Digital National Education Management Information System marks another step towards building a data-driven education sector capable of meeting Nigeria’s growing development needs.
