The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has been recognised as Nigeria’s Best State Health Insurance Agency for the third consecutive year, clinching the 2026 Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) for State Government Health Insurance of the Year.
Eko Hot News reports that the prestigious recognition highlights LASHMA’s consistent efforts in expanding access to affordable, quality, and equitable healthcare services for residents across Lagos State.
The award was received by the Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, who described the honour as a reflection of the agency’s dedication to strengthening the state’s health insurance system.
Dr. Zamba said the recognition validates the agency’s commitment to delivering innovative healthcare solutions that improve the well-being of Lagos residents.
She noted that LASHMA has continued to implement programmes designed to increase health insurance enrolment and ensure wider access to quality medical services.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the agency remains focused on achieving universal health coverage through sustainable policies and strategic partnerships.
Dr. Zamba dedicated the award to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, acknowledging his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery through sustained investment and policy support.
She also recognised the contributions of Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, development partners, healthcare stakeholders, and residents for supporting the agency’s mission.
The Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation to healthcare providers, staff members, and collaborating institutions whose efforts have contributed to the agency’s continued success.
She reaffirmed LASHMA’s commitment to introducing more innovative initiatives that will improve healthcare access and strengthen the state’s health insurance scheme.
