The Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) has carried out a fresh inspection exercise across selected real estate offices and project sites in Lagos State as part of ongoing efforts to regulate the sector and curb illegal property practices.

Eko Hot News reports that the operation covered various locations within the state, where officials monitored the activities of real estate agents and developers. The exercise focused on ensuring that practitioners comply with registration requirements and operate within approved legal and professional frameworks.

LASRERA stated that the inspection is part of its broader mandate to sanitize the real estate environment and protect residents from fraudulent transactions. The agency emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability in all property dealings.

During the field exercise, officials engaged directly with agents and property developers. They used the opportunity to stress the need for professionalism, proper documentation, and strict adherence to ethical standards in real estate operations across Lagos.

Mrs. Alaba Somorin, Head of the E-CARE Monitoring and Compliance Unit at LASRERA, reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding residents from fraudulent real estate practices. She noted that the regulator remains focused on building a more structured and trustworthy property market in the state.

Somorin urged all real estate practitioners to register with LASRERA and ensure that they comply fully with regulatory guidelines. She added that proper documentation in client transactions is essential to avoid disputes and maintain public confidence.

She also warned against unapproved practices in the sector, including operating without registration, imposing arbitrary charges, and making false or misleading property claims. According to her, violators will face sanctions in line with existing laws and enforcement policies.

The agency explained that the inspection exercise is part of its continuous monitoring and enforcement strategy. This approach is aimed at identifying non-compliant operators and ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly to protect consumers.

LASRERA further noted that the initiative is designed to restore and strengthen public trust in Lagos State’s real estate sector. The regulator stressed that a transparent and well-regulated property market is essential for sustainable investment and housing development.
