About 800 Lagos State pilgrims have begun their pre-Hajj spiritual visits to historical sites in Makkah ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Eko Hot News reports that the pilgrims, accommodated in House I, commenced the ziyarah on Tuesday under arrangements by the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The pilgrims were dressed in coordinated green and black ankara outfits during the spiritual tour across key Islamic heritage locations.

The delegation visited Jabal Thawr, where Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr sought refuge during the Hijrah journey.

They also toured Jabal Nur, the revered site of the first revelation in Islamic history.

Mount Arafah was another key stop, symbolically linked to the meeting of Prophet Adam and Hawwa after their descent from Paradise.

The pilgrims further visited Mina, Muzdalifah and the Jamarat area, all central to the main Hajj rituals.

Officials explained that the visitation helps pilgrims understand the historical and spiritual significance of the sacred sites.

They noted that the exercise also prepares pilgrims ahead of the physically demanding Hajj rites.

Chairman of the Dawah and Enlightenment Sub-Committee, Prof. Kabir Olawale Paramole, described the visit as a deep spiritual learning experience.

He said the group moved and returned as one united body, reflecting discipline and cohesion among Lagos pilgrims.

Paramole added that the sites reinforce the historical foundations and spiritual message of Islam.

A pilgrim, Mr. Rafiu Williams, praised the Lagos State Government for its organisation and welfare support in Makkah.

He rated the arrangements highly, noting strong coordination and helpful officials on ground.

Williams, however, suggested minor areas for improvement while commending the overall experience.

The second phase of the ziyarah is expected to continue for pilgrims in Houses 2 and 3.

Officials confirmed that pilgrims will remain in Makkah until their movement to Mina on May 24 for the start of main Hajj rites.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Dr. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, advised pilgrims to stay hydrated and conserve energy.

He urged them to remain focused on their health and spiritual readiness ahead of the demanding pilgrimage activities.

Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, confirmed that A+ category tents have been secured in Mina and Arafah.

He encouraged pilgrims to obey all instructions and continue praying for a successful and accepted Hajj.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring comfort, safety and proper coordination for all pilgrims throughout the exercise.
