Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday cast their votes during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Lagos State.
EKO HOT NEWS reports that the governor and his wife voted for Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, at Ward E3, Eiyekole, St. Stephen’s School, Adeniji Adele, on Lagos Island.
Speaking after the exercise, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the primary election as peaceful and inspiring, commending APC members for their orderly participation and commitment to the democratic process.
According to the governor, the turnout of party faithful across various wards reflected unity and internal cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hamzat emerged as the APC consensus governorship candidate following the withdrawal of other aspirants from the race, a development said to have received the backing of Governor Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Party stakeholders believe Hamzat’s emergence signals continuity in governance and sustained implementation of ongoing developmental projects across Lagos State.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, also confirmed that the governor and his wife participated in the voting exercise at Ward E3, Okepopo, alongside a large number of APC supporters.
Reports from several parts of the state indicated that the APC governorship primary was conducted peacefully, with party officials describing the exercise as orderly and successful.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has consistently praised Hamzat as a dependable partner in governance, particularly in areas of infrastructure, economic growth, and public service delivery in Lagos State.
