Officials disclosed that the affected property owners and managers failed to register their lift systems with the state government for proper inspection, maintenance, and safety monitoring, despite receiving multiple warnings.

Speaking during the operation, the Commission’s Chief Scientific Officer, Sovi Tijani, who represented the Director-General, Lanre Mojola, said the enforcement became necessary due to continuous disregard for safety directives.

He emphasized that proper registration and routine inspection of elevators are critical to ensuring public safety, warning that poorly maintained lifts pose serious risks to users in both residential and commercial buildings.

Some of the affected facilities include The Heritage/AXA on Awolowo Road, Ikeja; Brasas Mall on Admiralty Way, Lekki, alongside several residential and commercial properties across the state.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging building owners and facility managers to comply with safety regulations or face continued sanctions.
