Oniru Resident Petitions Sanwo-Olu Over Eviction Claim

A resident of Pebblerock Apartments, Oyinkansola Talabi, has petitioned Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu over an alleged attempt to remove her from her apartment despite a standing court order.

Eko Hot News reports that Talabi made the appeal through an open letter addressed to the governor through the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro.

In the letter, Talabi alleged that individuals connected with Green Birch Tech Limited and Isaiah Davies Ijele attempted to enforce her removal from the apartment even though a court ruling had previously restrained such actions.

According to Talabi, she has resided in the apartment located at 3 Igbile Close in the Oniru area of Lagos since November 2023.

She claimed that around 6:30 p.m. on February 6, while she was away from home, several individuals, including police officers and persons identifying themselves as court bailiffs arrived at the property.

Talabi alleged that the group attempted to gain entry into the apartment by damaging the door handle in an effort to access the residence.

She stated that a friend who was inside the apartment at the time of the incident became distressed by the situation.

According to Talabi, the matter did not escalate further due to the intervention of neighbours who were present at the building.

The resident said the alleged action was inconsistent with a ruling delivered by the Lagos State High Court in Suit No. LD/10108GCM/2025.

The judgment, delivered on December 3, 2025, by Justice L.A. Okunnu, reportedly restrained Green Birch Tech Limited and its agents from collecting or interfering with rent payments related to the property.

Talabi explained that the court order directed that all rent payments should instead be made to a court-appointed receiver, Paul Osaji & Co.

She further stated that her current rent cycle began in November 2025 and that she had already paid 70 percent of the annual rent for the apartment.

According to her, despite the existence of the court order and the partial payment made, attempts were allegedly made to request additional rent directly from tenants.

Talabi also raised concerns about electricity supply in the building. She claimed that residents have experienced repeated disconnections because funds meant for electricity payments were not remitted to Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

She added that tenants have already approached the court regarding the management of the property.

The matter is currently before a Magistrate Court under Suit No. MCL/487/MISC/2024, where tenants are seeking approval to assume management of the facility.

In her petition, Talabi appealed to the Lagos State Government to review the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

She specifically urged the government and the Lagos State Special Taskforce on Land Grabbers to examine the reported use of police officers in matters related to property disputes.

Talabi also requested measures to ensure that the court order remains respected and that residents of the property are protected from further eviction attempts.

The resident expressed hope that the intervention of the state government would help clarify the issues surrounding the dispute and promote compliance with the legal process.
