The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has intensified enforcement against illegal parking across the state as part of efforts to promote orderly parking, improve traffic flow and ensure unobstructed access for motorists and other road users.
Eko Hot News reports that the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, disclosed that the agency’s Monitoring and Enforcement Team recently carried out a major enforcement exercise along Akintoye Road by Ajeromi General Hospital, Apapa, to address persistent cases of illegal parking.
According to Adelabu, the operation specifically targeted vehicles parked within designated “No Parking Zones”, following an extensive public sensitisation campaign and the installation of traffic and parking signages along the Akintoye Road corridor.
She explained that the enforcement exercise was conducted peacefully and professionally in line with established operational procedures, stressing that the exercise was carried out without disrupting public order.
The LASPA General Manager noted that vehicles found violating the state’s parking regulations were attended to accordingly, with several illegally parked vehicles towed from the affected locations where necessary.
Adelabu also revealed that one of the Authority’s “No Parking” signs installed along the corridor had been removed, describing the act as vandalism of public infrastructure.
She warned residents and motorists against stealing or destroying government property, stressing that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The General Manager further urged motorists to obey all parking regulations, comply with traffic signs and utilise only designated parking facilities across the state.
She also appealed to members of the public to cooperate with LASPA enforcement officers as the agency continues efforts to improve traffic management and create a safer, more organised road environment for all Lagos residents.
The renewed enforcement drive, according to the Authority, forms part of the Lagos State Government’s broader commitment to enhancing traffic management, protecting public infrastructure and ensuring safer, more accessible roads across the state.
