The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has welcomed a strategic partnership with the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) to deepen public awareness, leadership development, and consumer advocacy across Lagos State.
Eko Hot News reports that the collaboration was disclosed by the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, Esq., during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Mrs Ayisat Olabimpe Agbaje-Okunade, who was represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr Abiodun Odunyebo, alongside other members of the academy.
The meeting, held at LASCOPA’s Ikeja office, focused on areas of collaboration, capacity building, and strategies to advance consumer education and protection in the state.
Solebo highlighted LASCOPA’s key achievements over the past 24 months, noting significant progress in public enlightenment campaigns and the agency’s role in safeguarding consumers against substandard goods and unethical business practices.
He stressed that partnerships with institutions like LJLA are critical to strengthening consumer rights awareness and building a more informed and empowered populace.
In her remarks, the LJLA Executive Secretary outlined the academy’s vision and leadership programmes, identifying shared interests in grooming future public-sector leaders and promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
She noted that exposure to regulatory institutions such as LASCOPA helps fellows gain practical insights into governance and public service delivery.
The visit also provided LJLA fellows with first-hand exposure to LASCOPA’s mandate, operational framework, and dispute resolution mechanisms, as well as its role in promoting fair trade practices across Lagos State.
Both organisations expressed optimism that the partnership would yield long-term benefits for consumer protection and leadership development in Lagos.
