Lagos State Health District V has reinforced its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance through a capacity-building training on Procurement Compliance and Anti-Corruption Practices for its staff.
Eko Hot News reports that The training was organised by the District’s Procurement Unit to strengthen understanding of procurement rules, ethical standards, and best practices in public resource management.
It was held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the District Conference Room with staff in attendance from various departments.
The programme was facilitated by Dr. Bunmi Oladipo, a retired Director of Procurement from the Lagos State Health Service Commission and a recognised expert in public procurement systems.
Participants were reminded that procurement is a key aspect of public administration that ensures efficient use of public funds and improved service delivery.
The facilitator stressed that procurement activities must always be transparent, properly documented, and aligned with established regulations and ethical standards.
He explained that compliance helps to reduce corruption risks while strengthening public confidence in government institutions.
Dr. Oladipo highlighted that strict adherence to procurement procedures promotes fairness, accountability, and value for money in government operations.
A key focus of the session was the Eight Stages of the Procurement Process, designed to guide proper execution of procurement activities.
These stages include planning, preparation of tender documents, invitation for bids or proposals, receipt of offers, evaluation, contract award, contract formation, and contract management.
He noted that each stage must be carefully followed to ensure transparency and prevent procedural irregularities.
The training also covered various procurement methods, including international competitive bidding, national competitive bidding, shopping, direct contracting, and consultancy procurement.
Participants were encouraged to maintain professionalism and integrity in all procurement-related responsibilities.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, commended the initiative and described it as timely and impactful.
He reaffirmed the District’s commitment to strengthening systems that promote accountability and efficient service delivery.
Dr. Asiyanbi noted that the training aligns with the Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ development agenda, particularly in governance, health, and institutional efficiency.
He stated that compliance with procurement regulations is essential for achieving organisational goals and maintaining public trust.
The Permanent Secretary further emphasised that continuous staff training remains vital for improving performance and service delivery in the health sector.
He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their daily responsibilities.
The District reiterated its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability across all administrative processes.
Officials said the initiative will help improve operational efficiency and strengthen institutional integrity within the health system.
