Giwa Gardens Water Park, one of West Africa’s leading family entertainment destinations, has partnered with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and top private-sector players to launch the ‘Detty December’ initiative, offering 100,000 free tickets between December 13, 2025, and January 4, 2026.
Eko Hot News reports that the program is designed to enhance Lagos’ festive tourism and position the state as a top destination for both domestic and international visitors. The initiative also targets inclusivity, with 1,000 less-privileged children set to enjoy free access, meals, safety gear, and supervised fun experiences on December 13, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Founder and CEO of Giwa Gardens, Keji Giwa, described the campaign as a gift to Nigerian families during the festive season. “Detty December is about joy, family, and togetherness. By opening our doors with 100,000 free tickets, we want Nigerians—home and abroad—to have an experience to cherish every year. Our partnership with Lagos State and private-sector leaders reflects our commitment to growing tourism in Lagos,” he said.

Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, commended the initiative, noting that it represents a model collaboration between government and private enterprise. “This partnership with Giwa Gardens is a major boost for Lagos tourism. Offering free access to 100,000 people and sponsoring 1,000 less-privileged children highlights our commitment to inclusive celebrations,” he added.
The launch underscores Lagos’ ambition to expand its tourism sector, with Giwa Gardens emerging as a key attraction for festive celebrations and family recreation. The park boasts world-class amenities, including a giant wave pool, extreme river adventure, mechanical dinosaur valley, pirate ship zone, children’s splash areas, and luxury cabanas, drawing thousands of visitors every month.
