The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre recently conducted a three-day training programme on “Strategic Stakeholder Engagement and Public Affairs,” aimed at strengthening the capacity of government officials.

Eko Hot News reports that 48 participants attended the structured programme, which is designed to equip public servants with skills to effectively manage relationships that drive governance in Africa’s largest megacity.

The Director-General of PSSDC, Adekunmilola Toluwase Adio-Mosees, addressed participants via the Director of Administration and Human Resource, Mojisola Sofowora, highlighting the pivotal role of public servants in bridging government policy and implementation for over 23.5 million residents.

He emphasised that the success of government programmes in housing, healthcare, infrastructure, and other sectors depends on clear communication and responsiveness to public concerns.

The training provided practical frameworks for participants to engage stakeholders effectively, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between government agencies and the public.

Participants were guided to develop personalized action plans to implement within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ensuring practical application of the skills acquired.

Officials noted that strategic stakeholder engagement is key to improving governance outcomes and enhancing citizens’ trust in public institutions.

The programme also highlighted the significance of public affairs in facilitating dialogue between government and society, helping to anticipate challenges and foster sustainable development.

By equipping civil servants with these competencies, PSSDC aims to strengthen the efficiency and impact of government interventions across Lagos State.

The initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to professional development and excellence in public service delivery.
