 The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for April 6, 2026. The event will take place around Tafawa Balewa Square.

Eko Hot News reports that the advisory outlines temporary traffic diversions and restrictions to ensure smooth movement during the carnival. Authorities aim to create a safe and organized environment for participants and spectators.

Vehicular movement will be restricted on major roads leading to the venue. This measure is expected to support the seamless flow of carnival activities across Lagos Island.

Affected routes include King George V Road near the Mobil Filling Station and Flag House inbound TBS. Force Road and Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS will also be closed to traffic.

WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House is also listed among the restricted areas. Motorists are advised to take note of these closures and plan alternative routes.

In addition, several link roads connecting to Moloney Road will be temporarily shut. These include Military Road near Old Defence Building, Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street.

To address parking concerns, designated car parks have been provided for public use. These include the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park and Zone 2 Car Park opposite Island Club.

Other available parking locations are the Museum Kitchen Car Park and The Bell Car Park near Island Maternity. These facilities are expected to accommodate visitors attending the carnival.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance. Early preparation will help reduce inconvenience and ensure a smoother travel experience within the area.

Traffic management officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be stationed at key diversion points. Their role will be to guide road users and maintain order throughout the event.
