Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has received the leadership of the National Union of Edible Oil Tanker Drivers of Nigeria (NUETDN) during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in promoting consumer protection across the edible oil transportation and distribution sector in Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the meeting focused on improving safety standards, regulatory compliance, and consumer confidence within the edible oil supply chain operating in Lagos State.

During the engagement, representatives of the tanker drivers’ union expressed their commitment to responsible operations and adherence to regulatory guidelines governing the transportation of edible oil products.

Representing the Joint Committee Chairman, Omooba Adeyinka, the Joint Committee Secretary, Mrs. Peace Ettiong, explained that the union remains committed to promoting product safety and quality assurance in its activities.

She noted that the union recognises the importance of maintaining high standards in the handling and delivery of edible oil products to ensure consumers receive safe and reliable products.

According to her, strict compliance with operational regulations and industry standards remains a key priority for members of the union operating within Lagos State.

Mrs. Ettiong added that collaboration with government agencies such as Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency will strengthen monitoring mechanisms and improve service delivery within the sector.

In his remarks, the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, Esq., welcomed the visit and commended the union for initiating dialogue aimed at protecting consumer interests.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to partnering with relevant industry stakeholders in order to promote transparency, accountability, and safety across product supply chains in the state.

Solebo noted that consumer protection remains a critical priority for the Lagos State Government, particularly in sectors that directly affect public health and daily consumption.

He emphasised that collaboration between regulators and industry operators is essential in ensuring that residents have access to safe, high-quality products.

The LASCOPA boss also highlighted the importance of awareness and public education in strengthening consumer confidence and improving compliance across different sectors of the economy.

According to him, consistent engagement with stakeholders helps identify challenges early and encourages practical solutions that benefit both businesses and consumers.
