The Lagos State Government has assured residents and business owners along the Bonny Camp to Eleko corridor of compensation for properties affected by the planned 132KVA electricity transmission and gas pipeline projects.

Eko Hot News reports that the assurance was given during a stakeholders’ engagement session held to sensitise communities on the Right-of-Way requirements for the infrastructure projects.

Officials explained that properties located within the designated Right-of-Way would be duly assessed. Compensation will be paid in line with existing regulations and valuation processes.

The planned projects include a 132KVA electricity transmission line and a gas pipeline designed to strengthen power supply and energy distribution across parts of Lagos State. Authorities say the projects are critical to improving industrial growth and residential access to stable electricity.

According to project representatives, the gas pipeline project is expected to last approximately 18 months. The timeline covers installation, safety compliance checks and system integration.

He emphasised that the Right-of-Way is necessary to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Clear corridors will allow for proper installation and long-term maintenance of the transmission and pipeline infrastructure.

Residents were encouraged to cooperate with government officials during property identification and verification exercises. Authorities assured that transparency would guide all stages of assessment and compensation.

Business owners along the corridor expressed interest in understanding the valuation process. Government representatives reiterated that due process would be followed to guarantee fairness.

Energy experts highlight that expanding transmission capacity and gas distribution remains essential to Lagos’ economic development. Improved infrastructure is expected to support manufacturing, small businesses and household power needs.
