The Yoruba Tennis Club has sought strategic collaboration with the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) ahead of its centenary celebration.
Eko Hot News reports that the request was made during a courtesy visit to LASRAB as part of preparations for the Club’s 100th anniversary exhibition scheduled for 1926–2026.
Chairman of the Club, Chief Olawumi Gasper, MNI, said the exhibition would highlight the Club’s century-long legacy in Lagos and Nigeria.
He noted that the Club possesses rich archival materials reflecting the cultural and sporting history of Lagos State.

According to him, the Club’s story is closely interwoven with the broader narrative of Lagos.
Gasper disclosed that an Exhibition Committee has been inaugurated.
The committee is led by Bro. Chief Lateef Shitta.

He explained that the exhibition is designed to meet high scholarly, cultural and visual standards.
The Chairman described the project as a defining cultural milestone.
The Club requested LASRAB’s support in exhibition concept development.

It also sought professional curatorial guidance and public engagement strategies.
Responding, Director-General of LASRAB, Mr. Amodu Razaak, assured the delegation of the Bureau’s full support.
He revealed that preliminary steps had already been taken to ensure a successful centenary celebration.

Razaak emphasised LASRAB’s mandate to preserve and promote Lagos State’s heritage.
He commended the Club for prioritising historical documentation.
The visit featured an exchange of souvenirs between both institutions.

Delegates were also given a guided tour of LASRAB’s archival facilities.
Observers described the partnership as strategic for heritage preservation.
The proposed Centenary Exhibition is expected to showcase rare documents and memorabilia.

Stakeholders believe the collaboration will elevate the historical significance of the celebration.
