The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has received the second batch of pilgrims from the 2025 pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Jordan.
Eko Hot News reports that about 200 pilgrims arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport after departing Nigeria on February 11 for the spiritual exercise.
The pilgrims visited key biblical and historical sites in Israel and Jordan during the faith-based journey.
Speaking on arrival, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Adewunmi Ogunsanya, thanked God for granting the pilgrims safe departure and return.
He described the pilgrimage as spiritually rewarding, noting that many participants shared testimonies of divine encounters during the exercise.

Ogunsanya commended the pilgrims for their discipline and conduct, stating that they represented Lagos State and Nigeria responsibly.
He highlighted the determination of an 80-year-old pilgrim who climbed Mount Machaerus, traditionally associated with John the Baptist, as a remarkable demonstration of faith.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his sustained support for the pilgrimage programme.
He noted that the Governor sent goodwill messages to the pilgrims through the Special Adviser on Christian Matters and assured that improvements would continue in future exercises.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Matters, Very Reverend Bukola Adeleke, also thanked God for a safe and successful pilgrimage.
He disclosed that the pilgrims offered prayers for Nigeria, the President, Lagos State and the Governor during visits to sacred sites.
One of the returnees, Mrs Yetunde Simpson, described the journey as spiritually rejuvenating and impactful.

She expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government for subsidising the pilgrimage, making participation accessible.
Mrs. Simpson encouraged intending pilgrims to prepare ahead, describing the pilgrimage as a lifetime opportunity.
Board Secretary, Dr Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to organising safe and spiritually enriching pilgrimages for residents.
The safe return of the second batch underscores the state government’s continued support for faith-based initiatives.
