Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has described the Oniru Business and Cultural Day as a model of responsible leadership driving sustainable development. He commended the Oniru for purposeful leadership and dedication to community growth.
Eko Hot News reports that the Governor made the remarks during the formal inauguration of the Oniru Business Council at Oniru Palace, Iru, Victoria Island. He was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration has strengthened economic foundations through the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda. He noted that as Nigeria approaches another electoral cycle, leadership and economic direction remain critical topics.
The Governor highlighted the transformation of the Oniru axis from a largely residential area to a thriving hub for hospitality, real estate, commerce, and creative enterprise. He attributed the growth to strategic planning, collaboration with traditional institutions, and investor confidence.
He stressed that inclusive economic policies supporting SMEs, digital entrepreneurship, vocational training, and the creative economy are expanding opportunities. He assured investors that Lagos remains stable, open for business, and forward-looking.
Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Bada-Ambrose, described Lagos as a state built on enterprise, heritage, and innovation. She said the Oniru Business Network fosters dialogue, regulatory clarity, and shared accountability.
The Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, said the initiative reflects years of structured engagement and consultation. He emphasised inclusive growth, coordinated development, and partnership built on trust.
According to the monarch, the platform promotes peace through partnership, where culture, commerce, and community development reinforce one another. The event reinforced collaboration between government, traditional institutions, and the private sector for sustainable prosperity.
