The second batch of Lagos pilgrims to Jordan and Israel deepened their spiritual journey with visits to historic biblical sites, including Mount Nebo, Machaerus Fortress, and the Dead Sea.

Eko Hot News reports that at Mount Nebo, the pilgrims reflected on the biblical account of Moses viewing the Promised Land of Canaan. They also visited the Brazen Serpent Monument, drawing lessons on faith, obedience, and divine promise.

The group proceeded to Machaerus Fortress, the historic mountain stronghold where John the Baptist was beheaded. The site offered moments of solemn reflection as pilgrims prayed and meditated on sacrifice and steadfastness in faith.

Some determined pilgrims, including the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Adewunmi Ogunsanya, and the Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr Gbolabo Okudero, climbed to Herod’s hilltop fortress.

Earlier, Dr Okudero had advised elderly pilgrims to remain at a resting point to pray, assuring them that God recognises their intentions. Those who made the ascent described the experience as spiritually uplifting and physically rewarding.

At the Dead Sea, known as the lowest point on earth, pilgrims took time to reflect and appreciate the uniqueness of the historic landscape. The visit blended spiritual devotion with cultural and historical exploration.
