The Lagos State Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE) has organised a one-day Strategic Engagement with the political class in Ikorodu Division to promote inclusive governance.
Eko Hot News reports that the event was held at Exclusives on Ireshe Road, Ikorodu, bringing together political leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives and community stakeholders.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, represented by Mr Sanya Adepoju, said the initiative aims to strengthen grassroots participation and community ownership of government projects.

He noted that the engagement seeks to bridge the gap between policy formulation and community realities while fostering dialogue and shared responsibility.
Permanent Secretary of the Office, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore appreciated Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Kadri Hamzat for supporting the initiative.

She explained that the Office was established to institutionalise structured platforms that promote inclusive engagement across social and ethnic divides.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Omotayo Olatubosun of Tai Solarin University of Education, emphasised the need for synergy between government and citizens to ensure effective governance.

Participants commended the initiative and raised concerns, including drainage issues, waste management challenges, insecurity, poor road conditions and inadequate health facilities.
The Permanent Secretary assured attendees that all issues would be escalated through appropriate government channels.

The engagement will be replicated across Lagos’ three Senatorial Districts to deepen participation and accountability.
