Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to collaborative leadership as a pathway to accelerated economic development and institutional excellence.
Eko Hot News reports that the Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, made the declaration at the 2025 Ministerial Retreat of the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI) held in Ikeja.
Speaking on the theme, “Collaborative Leadership: Partnership to Drive Excellence,” Agoro said Lagos must embrace structured alignment and inter-agency cooperation to unlock its full economic potential under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.
He described MCCTI as the engine room for enterprise growth, cooperative empowerment, market expansion, and investor confidence.
Agoro commended reforms improving ease of doing business, strengthening investor engagement, and expanding support for cooperatives and MSMEs.
He urged a deliberate shift toward shared accountability, transparent systems, and trade policies aligned with opportunities such as the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Bada Ambrose, described the retreat as a platform for renewed focus and measurable impact.
She highlighted achievements, including LASMECO financing for MSMEs, LASERP export capacity building, regulatory improvements, and the initiation of a new industrial policy.
Ambrose reaffirmed commitment to inclusive prosperity and disciplined execution in 2026.
Permanent Secretary, Mr Babatunde Onigbanjo, emphasised discipline, leadership, and engagement as pillars of institutional credibility.
He outlined key priorities for 2026, including professional conduct, measurable targets, and deeper collaboration across departments.
The retreat reinforced Lagos’ resolve to position the state as Africa’s preferred hub for commerce and investment.
