The Lagos State Drivers’ Health and Safety Programme continued at Eleko Junction along the Ibeju-Lekki Corridor, targeting commercial drivers with essential health services.
Eko Hot News reports that the initiative is spearheaded by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, Hon. Hassan Adekoya, as part of efforts to enhance road safety and driver welfare.
Commercial drivers at Eleko Junction received free eye screening and corrective glasses, drug testing, and safety sensitisation during the outreach.

Participants were also registered for complimentary drivers’ recertification training aimed at improving professional standards within the transport sector.
The programme underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to promoting safer roads through improved driver health and regulatory compliance.
Earlier in the week, the four-day outreach commenced at Lilypond along the Ijora-Apapa Corridor on Monday, February 9, 2026, where numerous commercial drivers benefited from similar services.

Officials noted that the exercise is designed to reduce road accidents linked to poor vision, substance abuse, and inadequate driver training.
The initiative will continue on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Obalende Park, extending the benefits to more transport operators.

Hon. Adekoya emphasised that sustaining drivers’ health and competence remains central to achieving a safer and more efficient transportation system in Lagos.
The state government reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen safety standards across major transport corridors through proactive interventions.

The Drivers’ Health and Safety Programme forms part of broader efforts to improve public transport regulation and enhance commuter confidence.
